Again in this period, responding only in part, insofar as the rhythms of our community life permit, to the numerous invitations that come especially from dioceses and their bishops, the prior was busy with conferences and preaching in various cities in Italy and abroad
Again in this period, responding only in part, insofar as the rhythms of our community life permit, to the numerous invitations that come especially from dioceses and their bishops, the prior was busy with conferences and preaching in various cities in Italy and abroad. Among these engagements, we record, in November, a day of meditation on lectio divina for the Grenoble diocese, participation at the church conference of the Cerignola-Ascoli Satriano diocese, and a talk at the 83rd session of the Semaines Sociales de France in Lyons, on the theme: “Churches and religions in public space”; in December lectio divina “The house of God in the Bible” in the cathedral of Bergamo, lectio divina “The spirit of the Lord is over me…” (Lk 4,18-19) to the 32nd National conference of promoters of Renewal in the Spirit held at Rimini and the awarding of the special prize “Città di Camposampiero” “for contribution to dialogue with the contemporary world”; in March meditations in the cathedral of Lyons on “Christ and Christians in the Letter to the Philippians”, a talk in the cathedral of Chartres on “Lectio divina, prayerful reading of the Scriptures”, and preaching in the dioceses of Rome (basilica of St Paul outside the walls), Milan, Ferrara, Albenga, Nola, Pescara, Chieti, Rimini, and Padua; in April a talk at the 56th General Assembly of USMI in Rome and the meditation “St Francis, the Lord’s passion, the stigmata” held in Florence on the occasion of 800 years since the approval of the Franciscan Rule; in May the master lesson at the International Book Fair of Turin “From I to we, an alternative: brotherhood and sharing”, opening of the Biblical festival of Vicenza with a reflection on “The God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob”, a talk on “True riches” at the initiative Regina pecunia organized by the University of Bologna, and preaching in the dioceses of Reggio Emilia, Asti, Milan, Verona, Venice, Treviso, and Florence.
