Our presence among the Churches and in the world
As always, we document the principal appointments that took the prior to various Italian and foreign cities to carry out his intensive ministry of preaching. Other brothers and sisters too served the community, the local Church, and different religious communities in Italy and abroad with their preaching. Some of them also participated at several conferences on theological and spiritual subjects
As always, we document the principal appointments that took the prior to various Italian and foreign cities to carry out his intensive ministry of preaching. At the beginning of June br Enzo went to Budapest and Pannonhalma, where he preached a retreat to the superiors of Hungarian monastic communities, while at the end of the same month he participated in the 33rd conference of Italian diocesan Caritas held in Turin. At the end of August he participated in the “National liturgical week” organized by the Center of Liturgical Action. In September he inaugurated the conference of the Italian Catholic Action on the Capitol in Rome; he gave talks in Portugal (Braga and Lisbon) under the title “For a shared ethics”. In the month of October he participated at the international conference on Francis of Assisi organized at the Collège des Bernardins in Paris with a talk on “The raison d’être of a rule and its application”; afterwards he inaugurated the pastoral conference of the diocese of Palermo. In November he preached the spiritual exercises at the Capranica college in Rome and held a conference at the Centre Sèvres on “Between interiority and commitment: the specific Christian characteristic”. In addition, in these months he has been invited many times to speak in Italian dioceses, to preach, or to appear at diocesan conferences. In this way he has visited the dioceses of Arezzo, Assisi, Cosenza, Catanzaro, Ivrea, Mantua, Milan, Padua, Palermo, Rome, Savona, Turin.
Other brothers and sisters too served the community, the local Church, and different religious communities in Italy and abroad with their preaching. Some of them also participated at several conferences on theological and spiritual subjects. Br Adalberto participated in an ecumenical conference organized by the theological faculty of Fiume (Croazia) with a paper on “The contribution of the monastic communities to ecumenism”, and at the yearly conference of Biblia held in Padua with a paper on “Iconoclasm”; he spoke about “Siluan of Mount Athos ans hope in the theology of the 20th century” at a conference held at the Caves Monastery in Kiev (Ukraine); he read a paper on “The esichast prayer in the ancient Russian tradition” at the conference of the Italian association of Byzantine studies held in Venice. Sr Lisa joined the national assembly of the MASCI in Alghero speaking about ecumenical dialogue today and leading the daily lectio divina. Br Sabino shared his competence about Syriac monastic fathers and Muslim mystics at a conference on "Compared mysticisms" at the university of Damascus (Syria), at a symposium of the Association Saint Silouane l’Athonite held at the Institut Saint Serge at Paris, and at the congress of the Society of Syriac studies dedicated to “Syriac monasticism”. Br Goffredo spoke about “Concelebration at 45 years since Vatican II” at the XLIV Liturgical Week organized at the monastery of Camaldoli; about "Forgiveness and reconciliation in the rites of the eucharistic celebration” at the LX National Liturgical Week held Barletta; about "God's Word and Word's mystery" at the liturgical week organized by the Church of Mantova on the theme of "The mystery, the Word, and the words". Br Ludwig participated at the conference of the scholars of the Old Testament of the ABI at Ariccia with a paper on "The prophecy at Qumran". Br Matteo delivered a paper on Syriac monasticism in China (9th century) at the 3rd international conference on the Church of the East in Central Asia and China held in Salzburg (Austria). Contributions of the prior br Enzo, of br. Luciano, and of br. Goffredo were presented at the festival “Torino spiritualità”.
